Missing several teeth or even one is enough to seriously affect your quality of life. Tasks that were once effortless including chewing and even speaking gradually become more difficult. Now with advanced dental restorative procedures widely available, there is no reason to continue living in discomfort.

Illawarra Dental Centre provides professional cosmetic dental care that keeps your smile healthy. If you suffer from missing teeth, dental bridges offer the perfect solution.

What Are Dental Bridges?
Bridges are fixed prosthetics (unlike partial dentures) that are made from high strength porcelain to fill any gaps from missing teeth. Two crowns on either side of the gap hold the bridge in place. Just like dental crowns, bridges can be specially fabricated in a laboratory and can be colour matched to the surrounding teeth for a more natural appearance. In some cases we also use our CEREC technology to make the bridge here in the clinic (see Crown for more information).
Bridges help to:

  • Restore your smile
  • Correct speech impediments
  • Improve your ability to chew properly
  • Decrease the risk of gum disease
  • Prevent teeth from shifting out of position
  • Maintain the structure of your face

Missing teeth can negatively affect your life; with dental bridges you can start smiling with confidence again. It also means that you can comfortably eat and speak without any discomfort. Restorative dental procedures typically require more than one visit.

Illawarra Dental Centre first conducts a comprehensive evaluation, then an impression is made of your teeth and sent to a laboratory to have the bridge specially fabricated. In the meantime, a temporary bridge is placed until your next visit.

If you are missing one or more teeth, you are likely a good candidate for dental bridges.
